Chris Garten, ENGAGE Class of 2017

ENGAGE has provided me a platform to help not only hone my soft skills, but has highlighted the importance of personal responsibility when communicating and dealing with people.  No matter what industry you’re in, business and life is about relationships.  The ENGAGE program has solidified the importance of investing not only in people, but the actual relationship.  Once people know you genuinely care about them, a mission accomplishment becomes a byproduct of the relationship.
When it comes to executive coaching, the Oliver Group is the tip of the spear; Leadership Southern Indiana’s partnership with the Oliver Group is priceless.  The personal executive coaching piece of the ENGAGE platform will take leaders at any level and challenge them to grow personally through self-evaluation, pragmatic discussion, and actual ENGAGEment of the principles taught. The purity and heart of the program has energized me about building local leaders.
Mark Eddy, Jamie Ogles, and the entire staff at Leadership Southern Indiana have created a program that not only puts an emphasis on developing leaders, but they have developed a package that takes good people and makes them great through ENGAGEment within their community, while stressing the importance of relationships along the way.  I have often wondered what we are doing regionally to not only develop our area’s leaders but to engage them, and this program acutely attacks those points.  I sincerely believe ENGAGE is the launch pad for local area leaders to have a profound positive impact regionally, statewide, and even nationally.
From Community Impact Projects to personal Executive coaching, ENGAGE has provided a platform of knowledge and coaching that has help propel me to the next level of leadership.  Personally, professionally, and even politically, ENGAGE has equipped me to serve my community at a level only imagined prior to the program.
